Hi,
My name is Dave and I am the webmaster for The Double Deckers website. I got my start with just a blank website and soon I started receiving photos and information from people all over the world about the show. Douglas Simmond gave me a huge boost when he sent me several original studio photos that belonged to producer Roy Simpson. Since them I’ve got to speak with most the the cast members, and I’ve put out there everything I have collected over the years. I’m still out there looking for every bit of information I can about the show so I can make it available to fans of the show everywhere.
I was browsing on ebay for something else when I saw some DVDs of the DD including episodes of the magnifent 6 and a half. The seller wasn’t asking anymore than the cost of the blank discs and postage and having searched Amazon to see it wasnt commercially available, I thought that maybe my kids might enjoy it as I did. Well the discs arrived this morning and its playing now. I had forgotten exactly how great it was. Buying the series had me searching for more hence I am here now. And as much as I understand that you can’t advocate people buying on ebay, I think it is all still positive as it raises awareness and the profile of the series. Neither will it detract from me buying an official release of the DVD when it eventually appears in the shops.
Well done on the site. I can see a lot of hard work has gone into it. Good luck.
We are all capable of recording the latest episodes of Doctor Who or a complete series of Only Fools and Horses on UK Gold, yet we will still go and buy the commercially available DVD’s because we want to own a product. The film and TV companies make vast sales on DVD’s of all previously aired and free to self-record shows. I have never been able to agree with their arguments against Imesh and Kazaa or any file sharing networks. I believe that if anything, the d/loads increase sales and cinema numbers. People generally d/load the stuff that they may not have bothered paying to see in the first place, only to discover a film they love and want to buy.
Anyway, I’ll stop my rant
Pip
Hey, Dave. Long time, no type! (About 11 years, I think!)
I went looking for your contact info this afternoon after finding an amateur recording of 17 episodes for sale on DVD at iOffer.com for $8 plus shipping. The recordings were made from a fairly recent rebroadcast. Just wanted to let you know!
